History 1974 Silca is founded as a company: Società Italiana Lavorazione Chiavi e Affini. The key production is set up on a professional basis: the handcraft activity is transformed into an industrial activity. A complete line of key copying machines is planned, differentiated on the basis of price and market, and the Silca brand begins its climb to success. 1978 Founding I.M.P. S.A. in Paris now Silca S.A.S. 1986 Opening of the subsidiary Silca U.K. Ltd. in London. 1987 Founding of Silca Deutschland GmbH in Heiligenhaus. 1989 Opening of the American subsidiary Silca Keys U.S.A. at Twinsburg Ohio. 1993 Transfer of the German headquarters of Silca Deutschland from Heiligenhaus to Velbert, the traditional hub of security manufacturers in Germany. 1996 Purchase of an area adjoining the Vittorio Veneto headquarters, and constructionof a new premises, doubling the production area to 30.000 sqm. 1997 Merge with the Unican Group. 1998 Acquisition of Bollini s.r.l., an Italian company tightly focused on the specialist production of key machines for the French and German market.Acquisition of GBZ an Italian manufacturer of industrial machinery.Acquisition of Elzett, a Hungarian company manufacturing security products, with 300 employees (today Kaba Elzett Rt.) 2000 The operation of Ilco Orion S.p.A. is merged with the Silca operation. Opening of Silca Unican Iberian S.A. - Barcelona (today Silca Key System S.A.) 2001 Kaba Security Ag acquires the Unican Group, creating the third largest security group in the world. 2002 – 2008 During the last years Silca has strongly invested in technological evolution of its machinery product range. Special attention has been dedicated to transponder technology and transponder devices. Thanks to advanced and deep research dedicated to transponder and transponder related technologies Silca has being able to introduce a high number of innovative products in a few years offering to its Partners and Clients in most cases the forefront of the technology in the locksmithing business. Highly innovative products such as: Triax-e.code, Viper, Leonardo, SBB, RW3, Bravo, Rekord and Optika have being successfully introduced in the daily activity of the professional Locksmiths. On the distribution network side the company has enlarged its influence thank to an integrated Network made of Regional Marketing Organisations, selected Distribution Partners and Manufacturing hubs operating all over the World. |
